I visited a site called Grizzly at Bear Creek in eastern Oregon digitized valley features.  I digitized the following features:

 

1. Valley bottom (Purple): did this by imagining what surfaces would be inundated if I "filled" the area with water. This resulted in a relatively wide lateral feature which included the farm pasture on river left. I didn't include fans or terraces in this digitization. 

2. Active channel (green): I used bankfull indicators including; recent sediment deposits, vegetation (clumps of debris in trees from high flows).  

3. Active Floodplain (pink): I took note of recent sediment deposits, riparian vegetation extent (willow), and evidence of channels (the site was completely dry)  to determine the extent. 

 

Other features I would include after familiarization with module 1:

 

1. Terrace : The terrace is a flat long feature with sparse vegetation composed of Juniper and sagebrush.  

2.  Fan: on river right appears to be a large sediment deposit at the mouth of the draw.
